Maxime Meiland was bullied after the nude movie she sent to someone was distributed by her classmates. Martien Meiland’s daughter tells in Open Card from YouTuber Robbert Rodenburg that she was going through a dark period at the time.
“I had sent a nude movie to someone and it leaked and that is why I was very bullied at school,” says the reality star, known from Chateau Meiland, when she explains why she didn’t have an easy childhood.
She says that she was already going downhill when her father temporarily moved to Amsterdam and no longer lived with the family. Shortly thereafter, her aunt put an end to her life, after which Meiland got the wrong friends and started drinking more and more. “I don’t understand how my mother was doing with me,” she says.
Meiland admits that she often behaved provocatively and that her grief mainly came out as anger. “I also occasionally thought: ‘I no longer need it’.” She eventually spoke to her mother, who was seeking psychological help for her. “It really helped me. It took me years, but it’s okay now.”
Meiland became known to the general public through the reality series Chateau Meiland in which she and her parents convert a castle into a bed and breakfast. The program won the Golden Televizier ring in 2019.
