Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen received a very special honor as part of his successful Formula 1 home game in Zandvoort.
Max Verstappen regained the championship lead with his commanding victory at the Formula 1 GP in Zandvoort. The son of GP veteran Jos Verstappen is the first Dutchman to win a race in the premier class on home soil. There was a state of emergency in Zandvoort for three days.
The 23-year-old was given a very special honor in the run-up to the race. Zandvoort came up with a spectacular gesture. Instead of the usual 30 km / h limit signs in various districts and streets, boards with 33 limits have been set up. 33 is Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 starting number.
Zandvoort is thus emulating the town of Tavullia in Italy a little. The hometown of MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi (42) replaced the 50 km / h limit signs with 46 plates many years ago. With this campaign, the town has long since achieved fame all over the world.
The Dutchman’s merchandising items with the 33 emblem, like those of Valentino Rossi with the 46, have been an absolute hit for years. Both drivers have bright colors as their trademark, for Verstappen it is orange, for Rossi it is bright yellow.
