The long-awaited Hollywood blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick is just coming to world cinemas. It premiered this week at the Cannes International Film Festival, and a few days ago the main characters walked the red carpet in London. And, of course, there was one of the biggest fans of the original Top Gun – Prince William accompanied by his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.
And as a true avid fan, he came perfectly matched in Top Gun style. The Duke of Cambridge arrived in an Alexander McQueen velvet tuxedo and Crockett & Jones black velvet moccasins with embroidered planes. Each shoe featured an F-18 Super Hornet in honor of the aircraft made famous in the movie Top Gun. William himself previously served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force and as a pilot in an air rescue service helicopter, so his interest in the film is no surprise.
„Thanks to our previous cooperation with His Highness Prince Charles, we have been approached to make special shoes for His Highness Prince William on this occasion. We were honored to produce them in just two weeks, although it is usually a two-month process“Said a spokesman for Crockett & Jones.
William and his wife Kate Middleton complemented each other in their one-color outfits. Forty-year-old Kate dazzled in a black Roland Mouret dress with a length down to the floor and a white belt.
On the red carpet, the couple joined the movie star Tom Cruise. He introduced them to other actors from the film, such as Jennifer Connelly or Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise’s friend Goose from the original film.
The London premiere will not be the only one where William and Kate see the expected film. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reportedly invited by Cruise to a special screening of the sequel Top Gun when he heard that William was a fan of the original 1986 film.
“We have a lot in common“Cruise said of the royal family at the premiere, adding:”We both love England and we are both pilots, we both love to fly.“
Top Gun: Maverick will come to Czech cinemas on May 27, 2022, and it is already clear that it will not be just an ordinary sequel. We have something to look forward to.
