Qmusic DJs Mattie Valk, Marieke Elsinga and Domien Verschuuren will be locked up on 15 December for the third edition of the so-called Q-escape room, the station’s well-known radio marathon. This time Bram Krikke is also present, he announced this morning.

The foursome are only allowed to go outside if they crack the ‘musical code’ and listeners can help them with that. Bram Krikke will take the place of Kai Merckx this year, who is expecting his first child soon.

Last year, the DJs only managed to escape after four days. The DJs each get an ultra-short fragment of a hit from the history of the Top 40. The only way to get out of the escape room is to guess the right title and artist, the solution of the musical code.

In the Q-escape room are all kinds of puzzles that bring the DJs closer to the solution. Every day between 06.00 and 20.00 live radio is made from the Q-escape room. Mattie, Marieke, Domien and Bram stay continuously in the escape room, so they eat and sleep there as well.

During the first two editions of Q-escape room, the DJs were massively helped by the listeners. Tens of thousands of messages came in and the number of visitors to the website and app rose explosively, the channel reports. For example, the use of the video player in the Q app was no less than 671 percent higher than in regular weeks.

At fixed times during the day, the DJs are allowed to take a gamble. Do they all get their hits right? Then they can leave the Q-escape room. But if it is not correct or if the answers are not in the right order, they have to wait for the next escape attempt.
