Maternity allowance in Ukraine – the procedure for prescribing has been simplified

The Ukrainian government has simplified the procedure for receiving cash payments for pregnancy and childbirth by women who are not insured in the system of compulsory state social insurance.

Thanks to the changes made to the procedure for assigning and paying state aid to families with children, the availability of services for:

• unemployed women
• female students,
• women registered at the employment center,
• women dismissed in connection with the liquidation of the enterprise.

Officials estimate that about 14 thousand Ukrainian women will use this simplified procedure for receiving assistance every month.

What is needed for the appointment of maternity benefits

Now, instead of a paper certificate, information about a medical certificate of temporary disability of the category “Pregnancy and childbirth” formed in the Register of medical findings in the electronic health care system will be used to prescribe material assistance.

If it is not technically possible to use the Diya portal, it remains possible to assign assistance on the basis of a corresponding certificate in paper form.

The Ministry of Social Policy noted that the final transition to the appointment of benefits without providing a paper certificate will take place after the introduction of electronic interaction of the Diya portal with such a Register of Medical Reports (eHealth).
