Mastercard Prize for Literature, official candidates announced

The selection of the 2023 official candidates has been announced Mastercard Literature Award et al Mastercard Newcomer Literature Awarddedicated to fiction and supported by Mastercard, with the aim of being close to Italians who share a passion for books and the promotion of solidarity projects.

For the Mastercard Literature Prize they are: “Ma tu chi sei” by Bruno Arpaia (Guanda), “La vita di chi resta” by Matteo B. Bianchi (Mondadori), “La traversata notte” by Andrea Canobbio (La nave di Teseo) , “Sincerely not yours” by Leonardo Colombati (Mondadori), “The recreation is over” by Dario Ferrari (Sellerio), “Tasmania” by Paolo Giordano (Einaudi), “Things that are not told” by Antonella Lattanzi (Einaudi), “Having everything” by Marco Missiroli (Einaudi), “Only true is the summer” by Francesco Pecoraro (Ponte alle Grazie), “La bella confusion” by Francesco Piccolo (Einaudi).

The finalists of the Mastercard Literature Award for Newcomers are: “Annalena” by Annalena Benini (Einaudi), “Menodramma” by Maria Castellitto (Marsilio), “Ora dormono” by Alessio Cremonini (Einaudi), “La sperta e la babba” by Giovanna Di Marco (Caffèorchidea), “Death by grace received” by Simona Pedicini (Fandango).

The first shortlist of candidates, which sees 10 works participating in the Mastercard Literature Prize and 5 works in the Mastercard Literature Prize for Newcomers, was selected by a prestigious jury (Giulia Caminito, Andrea Carraro, Carlo D’Amicis, Donatella Di Cesare, Donatella Di Pietrantonio , Angelo Ferracuti, Maria Ida Gaeta, Filippo La Porta, Marco Lodoli, Carlo Lucarelli, Annamaria Malato, Sebastiano Nata, Valeria Parrella, Sandra Petrignani, Roberto Saviano, Gianluigi Simonetti, Antonio Spadaro, Emanuele Trevi and Sandro Veronesi), who examined the 110 works presented at this fourth edition of the Award.

The jurors will meet in the next few weeks to select the five finalists for the Mastercard Literature Prize and the trio of Mastercard Literature Prize for Newcomers, while the winners will be announced on 9 December during the Più Libri Più Liberi fair in Rome.
