masses resume slowly in Côte-d’Or

The deconfinement is also religious. On Saturday May 23, 2020, the parishes received authorization to celebrate masses again with the public. A good surprise for them, when they did not expect to resume before Pentecost. From Saturday, the reception of the faithful resumed, with the usual health constraints: everyone disinfects their hands and wears a mask, while respecting the distance between the faithful. It was therefore necessary to reorganize the interior of the churches. This is the case for example at the Church of Our Lady of Dijon, where a mass was celebrated on Saturday evening.

Reorganize the church

Usually on Sunday morning, 300 worshipers gather in this church. Today, as we have to respect four square meters per person, Notre Dame Church had to reduce its capacity to 160 people. Or half the usual capacity. However, for Emmanuel Pic, the priest of the Notre-Dame church in Dijon, this resumption of services is good. “It’s a great joy, there is even a gentleman who cried, he said at the microphone of France Bleu Bourgogne. Everyone was very happy to be there. After two and a half months, it really became very hard, there was even a question of survival of our communities “.

Even though we stayed in communion despite everything at a distance, it was starting to get really difficult – Emmanuel Pic, from the Church of Notre Dame de Dijon
