Washington: Mass arrests continue as part of a crackdown on anti-Israel and Palestinian student protests on campuses in the US. More than 2200 people were arrested in 11 days. More than 600 people were arrested in one day.
At the same time, a police officer opened fire in Hamilton Hall in Columbia University as part of dispersing the protesters. No one was injured. In spite of the arrests and threats, the students are going ahead with the riot.
Apart from the police, a pro-Israel group is also fighting the protesters. An attempt was made to endanger students by driving a vehicle into them as part of a protest at Portland State University.
There are complaints that the police are taking a soft approach towards anti-Israel supporters and showing harshness towards students who are protesting peacefully.
