Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Extensive Accessibility Options and New Features Revealed

There is no doubt that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be a hell of a game. Sony wants to ensure that as many players as possible can play the game. After all, the title has a lot of accessibility options to optimally tailor the experience to your wishes.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, for example, will get extensive ‘Challenge Level Modifiers’. With which you can pimp both the general gameplay and the combat gameplay. This way you can adjust the life points of enemies, the damage that enemies inflict, the difficulty of stealth, and the timing to block and dodge attacks. You can also simplify puzzles and enable a chase assist. With the latter you can make the QTEs during car chases easier.

There is also a ‘game speed’ option, which slows down action-packed scenes to give players the opportunity to react in time. Although you can of course also use that mode to take cool screenshots.

Another option that Insomniac Games is very excited about is the Audio Frequency Controls. These allow players to turn off unpleasant sounds via High Frequency Cutoff (for high tones) and Low Frequency Cutoff (for the low tones of, for example, an explosion). There is also Notch Frequency Filter, where Pete’s one-liners remain clearly audible despite a chaos of sound effects in the background.

Cool is that that’s not all, because Insomniac promises more accessibility options after launch. The studio is still planning audio descriptions, screen reading and captions. The patch with the new options will be released in December.
