Marvel Studios’ Black Widow: You should know this

The next movie to be released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Black Widow. The film is a solo story for the heroine Natasha Romanoff who actually received far too little attention in the franchise.

Marvel Studios changes that with this film. That was allowed, because many fans would have preferred that Black Widow would have become the first woman with a solo film in the MCU. That should not be the case, but fortunately this film is now on the way.

Black Widow (May 5, 2021)

Director: Cate Shortland | Cast: Florence Pugh, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Rachel Weisz

Black Widow should have been in cinemas during May 2020. But after the coronavirus caused the cinemas to close, the film was moved to November 6, 2020. Unfortunately, it was not and the release is now scheduled for May 5, 2021.

The cast

The lead role is of course for actress Scarlett Johansson who can be seen again as Natasha Romanoff. Two further recurring characters are Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) and possibly Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) as well. We are not entirely sure about the latter, but at least he still lives in the time in which this film is set.

We also see new characters, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Melina Vostkokoff (Rachel Weisz). They are Black Widows too, just like Nathasha Romanoff is. And also new is the Red Guardian a kind of Russian version of Captain America played by David Harbour.

The story

The film takes place after the events in Captain America: Civil War. Nathasha returns to her home country, Russia, where she must forge an uneasy alliance with her former allies Yelena, Melina and Red Guardian to defeat the dangerous villain Taskmaster.

Taskmaster manipulates the Red Room, where the Black Widows are commanded, for reasons unknown. And is a deadly villain who can replicate the powers of his opponents. So we will soon learn what happened with Black Widow in Budapest, which was referred to in the films.
