Jordi Évole took Maruja Torres to Rome to chat for a while: there are jobs like that. At one point in the interview the subject of death came up. How not? She is almost eighty, and all of us journalists are the same journalist, and in an old man (an old woman, and a proud one) we see someone who is leaving, an almost corpse, a colorful question. After considering possible endings – a scooter hit in front of the Rome Forum, a shot in the mouth on a Beirut beach, at sunset: what a picture – the woman dictated the headline of her own obituary: “Maruja Torres finally has been silent». Not bad, dreaming of silence after so many years of noise, a very complicated exercise for those who have made a living with words.
