Hamburger SV once again gambles away the promotion and remains second-class for another season. A draw against SV Sandhausen would have been enough, but HSV conceded an embarrassing clap. Trainer Dieter Hecking is served. You started as a “big whole” and so you failed.

The HSV will remain a second division team for another year. Not only is it bitter from a sporting point of view, it also looks increasingly grim financially, patrons and main sponsors could jump out. The fate of other traditional clubs threatens.

EIt would have been the perfect chance to make up for all the suffering that fans have endured over the past few years with two games. Victories against archrival Werder Bremen in the relegation, the associated promotion and the little-loved Bremen shoot at the same time in the second division – more could not have gone for HSV.
But as so often in the past, the Hamburgers disappointed their fans immeasurably and experienced a debacle in the 1: 5 against SV Sandhausen. HSV is still worse.

The embarrassing appearance in the season finale sends HSV into the summer break with many question marks. Dieter Hecking’s contract would only have been extended in the event of promotion. Sports director Jonas Boldt recently said that the club could imagine working with Hecking in the lower house if there was another year, but his face spoke a different language in the final phase of the Sandhausen game.
