Martinique tightens entry conditions on its territory

On Saturday, the prefect of Martinique, Stanislas Cazelles, announced the strengthening of the precautionary measures to be observed on arrival in Martinique territory.

Martinique has decided to toughen the conditions for entry into its territory from Monday by subjecting travelers from all origins to seven days of isolation, in addition to a negative PCR test for Covid-19, the prefect announced on Saturday. Stanislas Cazelles.

The Guadeloupe exception

From now on, “travelers from all over the world including France and Guyana” will, in addition to the mandatory negative PCR test, “stay at home for 7 days, reduce outings to the strict minimum (food shopping, medical appointments ), carry out a test 7 days after arrival in the territory “, according to a press release from the prefect. More than 100,000 travelers had traveled to Martinique for the end of 2020 holidays.

For the prefect, it is above all a question of “avoiding the introduction of the ‘English variant’ by a traveler who would be carrying the virus but who would not have been tested positively on departure.” Only travelers coming from Guadeloupe or going there from Martinique will not have to follow these new measures. However, given the worsening health situation in Guyana, the press release states that “air traffic with Guyana will be restricted”.
