Actor Martin Preiss has struggled with alcohol and depression. He persevered him, and his marriage overcame these problems. How do they view them today?
“Addiction is an event in a person’s life that he doesn’t plan. I have it explained, named, I know about the things that seemed to lead to it, and yet I can’t understand why it came.” he admitted for News.
“I don’t ask myself the ‘why me’ question because it’s a disease, so it’s like another disease. But I can’t trace when it broke,” the well-known actor added.
According to him, it comes suddenly, you don’t even know how. “Or you don’t notice it for a long time. You deny it. It’s brutal and insidious. Plus, it’s socially very disqualifying. What about my wife? Without her, I might not be here anymore,” he confided.
But it was not easy for his wife. “Just yesterday we talked about it again. Sometimes it is not enough for a reverberation, a reminder and I shudder, a chill running down my spine completely,” says the actor.
