Cruises departing from Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) were scheduled to resume on July 4, 2021 with Costa. But test cruises were authorized by the regional and Bouches-du-Rhône prefects from June 20, for MSC.
The liners had not circulated since March 2020 when the pandemic of Covid-19. According to France Blue Provence, the cruises will indeed be able to resume from the port of Marseille. The first, of eight days, will take a Mediterranean tour with Italian stops at Syracuse, Taranto, Civitavecchia/Rome and Genoa.
A very strict protocol
Of course, strict sanitary measures, already tested in Italy, will be applied and reinforced. This will be done under the supervision of theRegional health agency (ARS) and firefighters and their canine Covid detection team.
To be accepted on board, you must have a negative PCR test, which will be carried out at the terminal a few hours before departure. A second test is planned in the middle of the cruise in addition to all the other daily checks such as temperature measurements.
In Marseille, for passengers coming from Italy, it will not be possible to make a stopover alone. These will only be authorized under supervision as part of paid excursions with disinfected buses, guide and drivers tested the same morning. Places to visit and buy souvenirs will be disinfected and privatized.
Also according to local radio, passengers showing little inclination to respect these rules during the first tests in Italy had to return home at their own expense.
Make you forget the Diamond Princess
Costa applies the same rules from Italy and the luxury company Ponant has chosen to accept only vaccinated customers.
This recovery is done with low prices, from 600 euros for these eight days of cruising. The whole of this strict health protocol aims to reassure tourists and make people forget the cluster disaster that occurred on the Diamond Princess a year ago.
