The perpetrator of the murder of the 23-year-old outside a night club in Marousi has been identified, as reported by the President of the North-Eastern Attica Police Officers, Costas Tsoumanis.
“From the analysis of the video material, the Police are very close to locating him” he told ERT. A friend of the attacker is also injured in the hospital.
“The relevant statements will be taken to know exactly what has been done, apart from the cameras. It is an event, as you said, in a crowded place,” he added, commenting that the bloody fight started “for a trivial reason.”
The victim is known to the authorities
Referring to the young man who “died” from a knife in the neck and – as it turns out – had tried to shoot the attacker, he said that “he had concerned the authorities in the past, not for such serious offences”. “We need to see if the weapon that was found belonged to the victim, if it was illegal, if he brought it legally,” added the President of the Northeastern Attica police officers.
“In recent years serious crime has increased. Every day we talk about murders. A misunderstanding, combined with drinking, resulted in this tragedy. Now, there is a problem in Greece. Crime has gone up and the age limit of the perpetrators has gone down,” he said
