Whatsapp’s new terms of service are controversial, and users are far from reassured about it. Faced with this problem, many have chosen to turn to other messaging apps, like Signal and Telegram. These services are so popular that it seems that even Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Whatsapp, has decided to use Signal.

Recently, a data leak of 533 million Facebook users was recently reported, including those of the company’s CEO Mark Zukerberg. The pot aux roses was notably discovered by cybersecurity researcher Dave Walker who shared his discovery on Twitter. According to Fox Business, the leaked data includes Zukerberg’s phone number, Facebook user ID, as well as personal details such as his address, couple details and date of birth. What shocked the public the most, however, is that they don’t use WhatsApp – which is owned by Facebook – but instead use Signal, one of the company’s main rivals.

It seems indeed that the preference of the big boss of Facebook has also turned to Signal, an application which is now deemed to be more secure than Whatsapp. Currently, Signal is even considered the safest digital communication method in the online messaging market. In particular, it gives users the ability to automatically delete their messages within a defined period of time, ranging from one week to five seconds. This is in stark contrast to Whatsapp, which announced at the start of the year that it was going to modify its terms of use concerning the collection of user data. This has created a large controversy regarding the security of data on the application.

Faced with the outcry created by this controversy, by the migration of many users to Signal, but also the fact that even Zuckerberg uses Signal, Whatsapp has decided to postpone the date of modification of its terms of use.
