Rome, September 15, 2017 – Mark Hirschi, a UAE Team rider, won first place in the Coppa Sabatini in Italy, with a time of 4.47.15 hours, making it his sixth victory and the team’s 50th this season.
Hirschi overtook Pavel Sivakov (from the Ineos Grenadiers team) in a double start to the finish line, and his teammate Tadei Pogacar won third place.
Hirschi said: “It was a tough competition, and my participation in the race last year helped me get to know the tracks, and our position was good with four riders in the front line, and I am very happy to achieve this victory.”
In “La Vuelta”, the UAE team overcame two mountainous stages, as Juan Ayuso and Joao Almeida did their best in the competition, and Ayuso maintained fourth place in the general classification.
