Playing in Lyon-Villeurbanne, basketball player Marième Badiane has just returned to the floor and is one of the 12 tricolors selected via the world championships in Australia in September.
Among the Bouedo, it’s a matter of basketball players. Arthur, owner of the Bel-Air center, was a professional player at the age of 17, at the Chorale de Roanne, before joining the USA and high-level university competitions.
Now Arthur is off the pitch. He became an entrepreneur with his audiovisual production company. His companion and future wife, Marième Badiane, is a player who plays for Lyon-Villeurbanne, Tony Parker’s club. A 27-year-old player, 1.92m tall, she has been a senior international since 2016, after a record of the best among young people: Europe U 16 bronze medal, Europe U 18 gold medal, U 19 world vice-champion and European champion U 20.
Very attached to our territory
In 2019, she became champion of France with Lyon but had to put her career on hold for a good cause: motherhood. In December 2020, she gives birth to little Jaya. But Marième still has in her the desire to return to the highest level: first find her club then the France team. Throughout her pregnancy, she maintained herself physically by using all the intermunicipal sites: swimming pool, spa, gymnasium, bodybuilding and yoga sessions, wanting to optimize her form without ever taking any risks. After giving birth, she carried out more intense training from March 2021 so that she was able to return to her club from the 2021-2022 season.
Having recovered all her means, at the beginning of February, she was one of the 12 selected tricolors and has just qualified for the world championships which will take place in Australia in September. Marième, very attached to our territory, will take advantage of its notoriety and its relations to bring professional internships to the center. This will allow Lacaunais to see top athletes.
