Marchigüe begins work to mitigate the effects of the devastating fire at the Harvest Festival – 2024-03-13 14:39:16

After the fire that affected more than 115 commercial premises that were installed in the crescent of the commune of Marchigüe while the traditional Harvest Festival was taking place, Mayor Cristian Salinas has held a series of meetings with officials from various government institutions with in order to add resources to support those who lost their source of employment, and also to recover the infrastructure that was lost.

“The process in general has been very painful, both for exhibitors and the people who were visiting and us municipal officials,” said the authority, commenting that on Monday he met with all the workers of the municipality where “the spirit is unanimous to move this forward.”

What’s more, he explained that everything he experienced “is painful for me because I know many stories about them, because they are life projects that are within these ventures,” but that fortunately there was no loss of life to regret.

The mayor of the commune, Cristian Salinas, told El Rancagüino that they are working to obtain resources to support the entrepreneurs who lost everything in the Medialuna fire.

Of course, he was very motivated to be able to rebuild what the fire destroyed. In that sense, he added that “I had a second meeting, very fruitful. I have to thank the work of the Regional Government and services, who have given us support.”

Likewise, he stressed that “as quickly as possible we are going to provide help to entrepreneurs,” and that “the cadastre is almost cleared and on Thursday we will meet in Marchigüe. We also met with SUBDERE to manage a project that allows us to replace the infrastructure that was damaged.”

SUPPORT IN PROCESS

In recent days, Salinas met in Rancagua with the Head of the O’Higgins Regional Subdere Unit, Pamela Caro, who promised to help finance an initiative to mitigate the damage caused in Medialuna by the fire. from just last Saturday. Said project of 2,500 UTM, about $163 million pesos, will consist of replacing the artisans’ pavilion that was completely damaged, granting an improvement in the safety standards of the facility that prevent the rapid spread of accidents like the one that occurred.

Meanwhile, in the meeting held with Governor Pablo Silva Amaya, the head of the GORE also committed resources, not only to go to the aid of the affected people, but also to finance an initiative that is currently presented in the Regional Government (FRIL ) for a total amount of 3,000 UTM, approximately 193 million pesos, to improve the infrastructure of the Medialuna food court.

Likewise, psychological support is being provided to affected people who require it from the Municipal Health Department and the Marchigüe Hospital. From these first measures, the Municipality’s Finance team is moving forward so that this week the reimbursement to the tenants of the payment of the participation floor in this harvest is completed.

“We cannot fall, because we have 115 affected people who are on our shoulders and we have to work for them, to move them forward,” the mayor concluded.

EMERGENCY FUND

Cristian Salinas has also met with Sercotec, Fosis, Corfo and Indap, where the first steps were drawn up to activate an emergency fund that will allow the losses of the vintage exhibitors to be resolved.

“We greatly appreciate the willingness of the Regional Government and Central Government to support our municipality to lift up our commune and its entrepreneurs after the catastrophe that devastated the Medialuna de Marchigüe and the beautiful party that was taking place,” said the mayor of the commune. .

At the meeting were the Director of the municipal Secplan, Ariel Orellana, and the person in charge of the Local Economic Development and Tourism Program, Nilthon Salazar, who discussed some of the details of the cadastre that is being developed by Dideco to establish the aid. Finally, the Seremi of Culture, Flor Ilic, spoke with the Communal Chief to support the management of a solidarity event that will be analyzed this afternoon with the municipal teams.
