Marc Marquez Leaves Repsol Honda: The Right Decision for All Parties

Jakarta

Superstar MotoGP Marc Marquez believes that his decision to leave Honda was the right one. According to him, this step benefits all parties.

Marquez and Repsol Honda officially separated after 11 years. During that period, great success was achieved by winning six MotoGP world championship titles. Marquez even dominated the championship when he won the title with a record 420 points in 2019.

However, Marquez’s accident at Jerez three years ago changed Honda’s fortunes. The Japanese manufacturer continues to experience difficulties, so it has failed to compete with its rivals until now.

Marquez gave up and finally decided to leave Honda ahead of the race in Mandalika, last October. Meanwhile Honda has caught on Luca Marini from VR46 Racing to fill the racing seat left by Marquez.

Marc Marquez revealed that his departure from Honda was win-win situation. The Japanese manufacturer is profitable because it can save costs to maximize its motorbike development, while Marquez gets the opportunity to revive his career elsewhere.

“I want the farewell to be done in a friendly and amicable manner, considering the relationship I have with Honda,” said the owner of eight world motorbike racing titles. AS.

“It was a great decision, and I think both parties benefited. The project that Honda is undertaking, in the current situation, it doesn’t make sense to have the highest paid rider on the track.”

“If I hadn’t been so frank, I could have stayed, gotten paid and ridden the bike with zero stress. But the money should be allocated entirely to the project, because Honda is Honda and they will be competitive again with or without me,” he said bluntly. Marc Marquez.
