Manufacturing activity slowed in November in the New York region

Manufacturing activity in the New York region slowed down in November due to the difficult conditions caused by the second wave of COVID-19 infections, according to the Empire State monthly indicator published this Monday by the Federal Reserve (Fed, Central Bank).

The index, which exhibits a sawtooth trend since the boreal summer, lost 4 points to settle at 6.3 points, well below the 14 expected by analysts.

This indicator plummeted in April and May to record lows due to containment measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus. It made a recovery in June, a sharp increase in July, but has been on a roller coaster ride ever since.
