Manchester United have been trying to extend Paul Pogba’s contract for months. Unsuccessful so far. Now it comes out: Two years ago, the Red Devils could have committed the French long-term.

As the English newspaper Daily Mail reports, the world champion offered his club in the summer of 2019 to expand his working paper. Pogba wanted to commit to United over the long term. Manchester United did not respond to the proposal, however, preferring to activate a contractual clause that extended Pogba’s term to 2022.

The end of the contract is now getting closer, at the end of June next year the time has come. Manchester United have been trying to get Pogba to sign for months. Now the Frenchman lets the record champions fidget.

United’s last offer was made last summer. Pobga declined and is waiting for an improved offer. According to media reports, Pogba has already decided to say goodbye next summer, but according to the Daily Mail, the Frenchman is still ready to remain committed to United.

Paul Pogba faces massive criticism

At Pogba, world-class performance and below-average performances alternate in the current season. In the bitter 0: 5 clap against Liverpool FC, for example, the midfielder received a red card and flew off the field.

Club legend Paul Scholes subsequently questioned Pogba’s aptitude for character. “How old is he? 28? He’s a really experienced player. But he’s one of those people who stays the same until 35,” said the ex-professional.

Pogba simply needs experienced players next to him – as it once did at Juventus Turin with Andrea Pirlo, Leonardo Bonucci, Gianluigi Buffon or Giorgio Chiellini.

Problems with Solskjaer: Pogba reacts

Pogba has also been reported to have problems with his coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past few weeks. Allegedly, the Frenchman apologized for his expulsion in front of the assembled team, but not to the coach. However, Pogba reacted to the headline of the tabloid The Sun with the reference “Fake News.”
