Manchester United Manager, Erik ten Hag, Addresses Alejandro Garnacho and Andrew Onana’s Controversy

Manchester

Gorilla emoji post Alejandro Garnacho considered insulting Andrew Onan. Manager Manchester United, Erik ten Hagsaid there was no commotion between the players.

This was stated by Ten Hag, in a press conference ahead of the Manchester derby match between MU vs Manchester City. The Dutch manager confirmed that the FA was investigating, but there was no conflict between the players.

“Not at the moment,” said Erik ten Hag when asked about developments in the situation Alejandro Garnacho and Andrew Onanreported by Mirror.

“We are talking with the FA, I can confirm that. I also want to emphasize that we are together, we are united. You saw it in Andre’s post,” he explained.

Previously, Alejandro Garnacho considered being racist towards a teammate, Andrew Onan, after MU beat FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. The goalkeeper from Cameroon became the hero of the Red Devils’ victory after saving the opponent’s penalty in the final minute, and helped his team win 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Garnacho uploaded a photo celebrating Onana’s success in saving a penalty, simply captioning it with two gorilla emojis. This emoji is considered insulting to Onana as a black player.

Garnacho then deleted it not long ago. This is what makes many parties speculate even more.

The FA then investigated it, which threatened Garnacho with sanctions. Meanwhile, Onana defuses the situation, saying his colleague is innocent.

The goalkeeper, who was just recruited this summer, said Garnacho did not mean to offend.

“People can’t choose what offends me,” Onana wrote on Instagram.

“I know exactly what @garnacho7 means: toughness and strength. This problem must not continue,” wrote Andrew Onan defend Alejandro Garnacho.
