Manchester United is currently in a positive trend. Even so, the Red Devils are considered unable to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City.
MU has not been beaten in 14 matches in all competitions since January 2020. Most recently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad won 2-1 over Norwich City in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
The presence of Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford in early 2020 is considered to boost MU’s current performance. The Portuguese midfielder is able to provide quality in the Red Devils midfield, both through his passes to score goals.
Although Marcus Rashford et al began to show improved performance, but it was felt not enough by Roy Keane. The former Manchester United captain assessed that his club would still face difficulties when facing big teams such as Liverpool and City.
Keane compares the distance of points that are too far between Manchester with two rivals in the English League. Red Devils trailing Liverpool 37 points, who has locked the Premier League title, and City (14 points) in second.
Not only that, Keane also highlighted the back line of the Red Devils which he considered still not appear convincing. In his view, MU will not be able to compete with Liverpool and City if they have not been able to strengthen their defense.
“The league standings do not lie. There is still a little work to be done,” Keane said in an interview with him The Independent, reported from Daily Star.
“United are a bit difficult in the back line. That will make it difficult for them to compete with Liverpool or Man City in the next 12 months,” he said.
