Manchester United reported to be one step away from getting Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. The two clubs are said to have reached an agreement soon.
According to the Guardian report, United and Madrid have been negotiating a move for Varane in the past week. The Red Devils are said to be going to redeem the French defender for 50 million euros.
Madrid does not seem to mind releasing Varane to Old Trafford. Article, Varane’s contract with Los Blancos only has one year left until June 2022.
Madrid will have to sell Varane this summer if they don’t want to lose the 28-year-old for free next season. Moreover, MU’s offer is clearly quite tempting for Madrid.
MU is rumored to have prepared a four-year contract for Varane until 2025. Varane is expected to strengthen the MU back line which is often considered a weak point last season.
The Red Devils are the top four teams with the most number of goals conceded in the 2020/2021 Premier League (44 goals conceded). Varane is most likely projected to be a duet partner Harry Maguire at the heart of United’s defense.
Seeing his nicks with Madrid, Early clearly has the capacity to become a new mainstay in the back line of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops. The Lille-born defender has made 360 appearances for Madrid since joining in 2011 at the age of 18 from Lille.
He was wallowing in the title at Madrid by winning four Champions League titles. three LaLiga titles, three European Super Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, one Copa del Rey trophy, four Club World Cup titles.
If he moves to Old Trafford, Varane will be the third signing MU in this summer. They have previously signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Tom Heaton who came from Burnley.
