While Manchester City continued to win after victory, Manchester United posted three consecutive eyeglasses, two in the Premier League and one in the Europa League.
The gap between the two camps in the standings widened to 14 points. At first glance the Sky Blues have a great chance of winning three more points and stepping closer to the third league title in four years, but Solskjaer’s men are not to be underestimated.
It is not without reason that United have never been beaten at home to opponents this season. Behind the rampage of the front lines in three 0-0 scores, there is also the fact that their goals are clean from being conceded.
United also had time to stem City goalless at Old Trafford in the first half of this season, and the great thing is, the Red Devils have been able to steal three wins in the last five visits to the Etihad on the league scene.
In the present context, City is still in the peak of performance and it seems that they never run out of their minds to dismantle the opponent’s defense as close as possible. It is interesting to see whether Guardiola will field a pure striker or false nine against United.
The visitors themselves relied more on speed on the counter-attack to steal goals, but their reliance on Bruno Fernandes started to have a negative impact after the Portuguese star’s game appeared to have slacked off with recent fatigue.
