The incident took place around 8.30am. The man was resuscitated, but to no avail.
‘Possible conflict’
It is still unclear what exactly happened and why shots were fired. “We are now busy hearing witnesses,” a police spokesman said. “Presumably there is a conflict between two people.” But what the conflict was about is unknown.
There may be a second victim, police said. “He went to the hospital on his own.”
After the shooting, about 200 people gathered at the cafe, reports RTV Utrecht. A number of people got into an argument. The police drove them apart.
