The BBC revealed that Arion Kurtag, the person responsible for hacking GTA6, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The BBC revealed that Arion Kurtag, the person responsible for hacking GTA6, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to the BBC, Kurtag is a member of the international hacking group Lapsus$, which has previously carried out several attacks on major companies including Nvidia, Microsoft, Samsung and Uber.

Kurtag is out on bail from the Nvidia attack charge and was under police protection at the Travelodge Hotel when the attack was carried out in September last year. Although his laptop was confiscated at the time, Kurtag managed to hack into Rockstar’s systems and posted videos of the game.

Kurtag was deemed unfit to stand trial so he was hospitalized due to his mental condition.

The defendant’s defense indicated that his hacking did not cost the game anything, but on the other hand, the studio’s defense claimed that the hacking had cost the company $5 million.

GTA had previously published the teaser for the sixth part of the game and it was announced that it would be released in 2026.
