Man discovers kangaroo in front yard: Then the situation escalates

Merry Christmas looks different …

This is certainly not how Mitchell Robinson imagined his holidays to be.

The day after Christmas Eve, he and his family discovered a kangaroo prowling around his front yard, digging holes in the ground.

So the father decided to step outside and scare the animal away.

“It just stared at him and he took something to chase it away, and as soon as he did you could see it was going to hit him,” explains a family friend named Tina Grace Rowe aloud Daily Mail.

A video captured of the attack shows the marsupial approaching its victim before striking him with its paw and then kicking him to the ground.

“He was massive. He was a big male kangaroo with a big chest,” Rowe describes the animal attacker. To make matters worse, Robinson already had a broken arm at the time of the assault, making it difficult for him to defend himself.

Fortunately, he did not suffer any other serious injuries in the attack, as the marsupials can do a lot, as zookeeper Chad Staples reports: “They have huge claws on their front hands to hold on to, and their hind legs have tremendous bounce.”

He therefore advises people who happen to come across a specimen to stay calm first. In the best case scenario, you don’t even attract the animal’s attention.

Should it come to an attack, one should drop on the ground and curl up into a ball and then move forward in a crouched or crawling position.

After the devastating bush fires in Australia earlier this year, more and more kangaroos are venturing into the suburbs in search of greener grass and food.
