A man is charged with murder after a foreign national was found dead at a private address at Fergeland in Steinkjer night through Sunday.
– The accused are now being questioned, and the police are now working on questioning witnesses to clarify the course of events. We work from different hypotheses, where murder is one of them, says police lawyer Kjersti Brandtsegg Moe in the Trøndelag police district to VG.
The police do not at present want to answer questions about whether the accused and deceased should have a relationship.
Police say in a press release that police started investigations as a result of information in the case and findings on the spot, and that a man was arrested.
– The circumstances surrounding the death mean that the police are investigating the case as a murder, but the police investigation is in the early stages, and we are investigating several possible hypotheses, says police lawyer Kjersti Brandtsegg Moe in the Trøndelag police district.
According to police, the deceased is a resident of Steinkjer.
The accused has been taken to Trondheim police station for questioning. VG has not succeeded in obtaining the man’s defender Rolf Christensen, so it is unknown how the defendant poses to the charges.
Police are now working on forensic investigations in the home and questioning accused and witnesses.
They state that for further investigation, they will not provide further information on the charges or circumstances surrounding the death at this time.
