In front of other children: A man, intoxicated, attacked his former partner in a playground.
The 44-year-old first threatened the woman in Mannheim and then punched her in the stomach, the police said on Sunday.
An officer who was not on duty at the time saw the incident on Saturday evening and wrestled the attacker to the ground. With the help of other police officers, the man was finally arrested. An officer was injured on the finger, the police said.
The man had therefore already been legally forbidden to approach his former partner.
After a drug test and an interview with threats, he was released again. He is being investigated for, among other things, assault and threat. / dpa
