On Tuesday afternoon, the police arrested a man at Tjeldstø in Øygarden, they inform on X. They mention that he allegedly stole a mobile phone and a bank card, among other things.

According to police lawyer on duty Ingeborg Drægebø, this is a man in his late 20s who is well known to the police. When he was arrested, he appeared intoxicated, she tells BT.

– He must have tried to get into a Spar store in the area. There he is stopped, in a way. Those who see him give a description that the police use when they come across the man somewhere else nearby, she says.

Supposed to have threatened an elderly lady

In the course of the afternoon, it was made known to the police that he allegedly entered an elderly lady’s home.

– Based on the descriptions, he is charged with having committed a robbery in there, says Drægebø.

She also says that the patrol on the spot has spoken to the elderly lady.

– She appeared physically unharmed, but must have been subjected to threats, says Drægebø.

He was arrested on Tuesday evening and is in custody.

– We will make an assessment tomorrow as to whether he should be produced for imprisonment, says Drægebø.

– Was stopped with a lot

In the first place, he is arrested because of the risk of repetition and because the police want to secure his explanation before they do anything more, she says.

– He was stopped with a lot of stolen property, which is returned to those who had to own it, says Drægebø.

She adds that she does not have an overview of what he has been wearing, but that he was stopped with a lot that he does not own.

– The man is charged with robbery, theft, attempted burglary and damage. All from the same incident. He is the only one who has operated alone, says Drægebø.

He has not yet been appointed a defender, but Drægebø says they will put him in touch with one.
