Man arrested for setting fire to the dog Riona who has become a TikTok star – VG


HELES: Riona is on the road to recovery, and is scheduled to have her first operation today.

Police in Memphis have charged a man suspected of having completely some kind of lighter fluid on the dog Riona and set it on fire, so she got a fourth-degree burn on about 60 percent of her body.

According to ABC News has the dog Riona become a star on TikTok after videos of the dog are shared on the platform.

The Justice4riona account has close to 100,000 followers and has received 1.4 million likes since July 3.

The first video describing what happened to the dog in Memphis, Tennessee, has 6.4 million views.

“People soaked her in fuel and set her on fire. She ran down the street surrounded by flames. Yet all she wants is to love everyone. Share her story! ” it says by the video.

Wednesday wrote Memphis police on Facebook that on the evening of 20 June they moved out to a report of animal cruelty. There they were informed that a woman named Queen had been set on fire on purpose and was in full swing.

“The veterinary hospital that treated the dog stated that an accelerator had been used. It had a fourth-degree burn that covered about 60 percent of the body. ” writes the police.

Charged with animal cruelty and arson

Video surveillance showed a man nearby who ran from the area 36 seconds before the dog escaped and ran down the street.

On July 11, the police were called after the suspect allegedly threatened another person that he would burn down the house of the person who had reported the police and given them the surveillance video.

On July 12, the suspect, 43-year-old Quishon Brown, was arrested. He is now charged with animal cruelty, assault and arson, the police write.

In the weeks since the fire, the dog has gradually gotten better. According to the TikTok and Facebook updates, she is receiving treatment and will have her first operation on Thursday.

The dog is treated at Tails of Hope Dog Rescue and was named Riona. According to ABC, they started the TikTok account for the dog.

On July 8, the animal protection Tails of Hope updated that Riona was doing very well. They then wrote that this week she would start getting skin grafts, first on her face. They write that thanks to the staff at Bluff City Animal Hospital, she has avoided infections and healed very well.

Tails of Hope leader Ginger Natoli is shocked by the incident:

– I have never witnessed such cruel torture of an innocent animal before.

– I can not even imagine what it is like to be burned alive. It is not only Riona’s justice we are fighting for, but the rights of all animals, says Natoli.
