Man airlifted from ship after occupational accident in Bekkjarvik: Latest updates

At 22.45 the police received a report of a work accident on a ship which was near Austevoll.

The helicopter turned

A helicopter was sent to the scene, and a man was hoisted up from the ship.

Both the police and the main rescue center stated that the helicopter was to fly to the National Hospital in Oslo. It did too, but turned around and landed at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen at 00.30

– There has been a work accident, Steinar Hausvik told BT just before midnight.

He is operations manager in the West police district.

The extent of the man’s injuries is unclear, but Hausvik says it is in the nature of the matter that it is a serious matter when you are picked up by helicopter.

The police are on board

The police received assistance from the coast guard ship “Tor”, which was in the area. The coast guard transported a police patrol out to the ship.

– We are on board now and investigating what has happened, says Hausvik.

Two helicopters participated

Rescue manager Jamtli at the main rescue center states that the rescue helicopter from Sola and the Air Ambulance participated. It was the rescue helicopter that brought the man up from the ship.

He says that it was just south of Bekkjarvik.

At 00:30 the helicopter landed at Haukeland University Hospital.
