In Horst, Limburg, a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death on a square last night during a carnival party. Immediately after the stabbing, cafes closed their doors and the music was stopped.
Rescuers found the man seriously injured on Sint Lambertusplein in the center of the place. He died shortly afterwards. Bystanders were then taken care of at the town hall.
Many people saw the man being stabbed, police said. As a result, there was soon a good description of the possible perpetrator. A suspect was arrested around midnight, more than four hours after the stabbing. It is not yet clear what led to the incident.
