Malignant! TBC Attack Thousands of Residents of Central Java

Semarang, Gatra.com – Tens of thousands of Central Javanese people were recorded as suffering from tunerculosis (TB) in the period from January to June 2020. “The number of TB patients in Central Java is indeed quite high, there were 23,919 Central Javanese infected with tuberculosis (TB),” said the Head of the Java Health Service Middle Yulianto Prabowo, Thursday (7/23).

Yulianto said, Brebes Regency was ranked first in the highest number of TB patients in Central Java. “Most in Brebes with 1,840 people sufferers,” he said.

Furthermore, followed by Tegal Regency with 1,500 patients, Cilacap Regency with 1,447 patients, Banyumas Regency with 1,334 patients and Kudus Regency with 1,252 patients. “Most sufferers are indeed from the 5 regencies,” he said.

According to Yulianto, an infectious disease that attacks the respiratory tract can infect all ages, both toddlers to the elderly. “TB is indeed indiscriminately, almost all ages can be affected. But the average patient in the productive age,” he explained.

If grouped by age, this disease can strike ages 0 to 4 years by 7%, ages 5 to 14 years by 5.3%, ages 5 to 24 years by 15.4% and ages 25 to 34 years by 14.7 percent .

“Then the age of 35 to 44 years by 15%, ages 45 to 54 years by 16%, ages 55 to 60 years by 15.9%, and ages over 60 years by 11.2%,” he said.

Yulianto said, the transmission process which was similar to Covid-19 transmission, made early detection for people who had close contact with TB sufferers very important to do.

“So because of transmission through saliva or droplet. And, both attacking the lung organs and respiratory tract, then early detection is very important to do,” he explained.

In fact, efforts to prevent tuberculosis can also be done by expecting health protocols such as using masks, keeping a distance, eating nutritious foods, exercising diligently, and maintaining hand hygiene. “Don’t let it happen because there is Covid-19, we will forget or neglect TB transmission because it is equally dangerous,” he said.
