Make 119 for HIV/AIDS Counseling Services

Bandung – Last year, HIV/AIDS cases increased by 31. The total number of HIV/AIDS cases in the city of Bandung is 2,428. DPRD Kota Bandung encourages counseling services to be more massive.

The chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Tedy Rusmawan, said that the 119 service was not only for emergencies. Tedy said that this service could be used for counseling residents, one of which is a community at high risk of HIV/AIDS.

“If there are counseling matters like this, then he (a person at high risk of HIV/AIDS) can have a great opportunity for consultation. This should be informed more broadly, that in 119 this can be (counseling),” said Tedy to DetikJabar, Friday (3/3/2023).

The DPRD is pushing for massive counseling services to be carried out because PLWHA or people at high risk of HIV/AIDS are often embarrassed when they want to consult and check their health. Tedy said that actually all residents have the right to get access to health services.

Apart from using a consultative approach, the PKS politician has encouraged the municipal government to also use a religious approach. He said coaching through religion needs to be done.

“Our vision is a religious Bandung. Problems like this must be resolved by religious leaders to enter more into areas like this, groups prone to HIV/AIDS. They also need to receive direction and guidance, for those who have already, gradually return to the right path,” said Teddy.

“Then from the health side it is also important to make efforts, the fact is that HIV/AIDS has an impact on health,” said Tedy added.
