Deutsche Bahn is already planning ten major construction sites for 2023. Delays and cancellations are already to be expected.

Berlin – Delays and breakdowns on the Deutsche Bahn are not unknown problems for train travellers. Challenges are also expected for the route network in the coming calendar year due to the modernization and expansion of routes. The group has now announced details of ten major construction sites already planned.

Rostock–Stralsund From 4 March to 15 April 2023 In some sections the path is completely blocked. A replacement rail bus service will be established.
Bremen knot From 12 March to 14 May 2023 The route can only be traveled on one track. About half of the stops in Bremen and Oldenburg will be eliminated.
Bremen knot From 19 June to 25 August 2023 The route can only be traveled on one track. About half of the stops in Bremen and Oldenburg will be eliminated.

Kassel-Fulda From April 1st to December 9th 2023 A road closure is required. Trains are diverted. In the direction of Hamburg, the journey time is up to 60 minutes longer, in the direction of Berlin up to 50 minutes.
Berlin-Dresden From 22 April to 10 November 2023 The route will be closed at times. There are detours, extensions of journey times and cancellations of bus stops.
Nuremberg – Wurzburg From 27 May to 11 September 2023 The route is completely closed and as a result there are detours, lengthening of travel times and cancellations of trains.
Gäubahn and central station in Stuttgart From 3 June to 27 October 2023 The southern section of the route will be closed and the northern section will also be temporarily closed. A railway replacement service is used.
Braunschweig-Wolfsburg From 16 June to 24 August 2023 Diversions will be set up between Wolfsburg and Göttingen via Hanover. Around half of the ICE journeys between Göttingen and Berlin will be eliminated.
Rheine-Osnabrück From 23 June to 5 August 2023 There are detours on the route with extension of travel times. Individual long-distance stops are omitted.
Magdeburg-Halle From 20 August to 6 October 2023 Detours via Dessau/Bitterfeld and extended journey times are expected. The long-distance stops in Köthen and Leipzig/Halle airport are no longer available.

The affected lines are Oberhausen-Duisburg, Hanau-Fulda, Cologne-Mainz, Frankfurt-Mannheim, Friedberg-Wetzlar and Marburg-Kassel.
