As the “MMA Fighting” portal reports, according to a later police report, Falcao was found with two punctures in his stomach in front of a bar in his hometown of Pelotas. The former UFC star was taken to a nearby hospital around 3 a.m. before doctors pronounced him dead.

According to media reports, the police have not yet heard any witnesses in the case. It is also said that a motive for the cruel attack is still completely unclear at this point in time. The only clue so far: broken glass is said to have been found next to Maiquel Falcao’s body.

Falcao’s mixed martial arts career spanned nearly two decades after turning pro in 2004. In the 18 years he was in the cage, he recorded 40 wins, 19 losses and one no contest. In 2010, Falcao won his only fight in the UFC. The Brazilian fighter faced Gerald Harris at UFC 123 in Michigan and won the fight via unanimous decision but was later fired by the organization.

He then moved to MMA competitor Bellator, where he won, among other things, a middleweight Grand Prix tournament during his two years there. After leaving Bellator, “Big Rig” fought for a number of other organizations, including Fight Nights Global.
