Jakarta

The Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud Md highlighted the defense memorandum or pledoi Bharada Richard Eliezer related to the shooting case of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat. Mahfud prayed for Eliezer to get a light sentence.

The pledoi reading itself was carried out Eliezer on Wednesday (25/1) at the South Jakarta District Court. On this occasion, Eliezer expressed his gratitude to several parties, including President Joko Widodo, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit, and Mahfud Md.

Mahfud said that although he was praying for a reduced sentence, the decision still rests with the judge. He said all parties must be fair in judging.

“Richard Eliezer’s sister. I am happy, when you read the pledoi earlier you thanked many parties, including me. I pray that you get a light sentence, but that’s all up to the panel of judges. We must be fair in judging that the judge has the authority to decide punishment,” said Mahfud on his official Twitter account @mohmahfudmd.

Mahfud then recalled that at first the case was revealed to the public as a shooting case. However, according to Mahfud, the murder case was revealed after Eliezer conveyed the facts.

“I still remember, this case became open when on August 8 2022 you revealed the secret of this case that the facts were not shooting but murder. Before that for a month (since July 8) you claimed to shoot each other because you were shot first. But on August 8 you said : it was murder,” said Mahfud.

Mahfud said that since then, facts have continued to be revealed, including the role of the former Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the National Police, Ferdy Sambo, in this case. Mahfud also advised Eliezer to be steadfast in accepting whatever verdict the judges gave him.

“Since then everything has become open, including Ferdy who later admitted to being the scenario maker. Remember, after revealing the secrets of this case, you stated that your heart was relieved and released from the crush because you had told the truth about what was originally darkened. You are manly, you must be steadfast in accepting a verdict,” he said.

Previously in court, Eliezer expressed his gratitude to several parties. This gratitude was given because of the support and trust given so that he revealed the facts that happened.

“In the end, allow me to say a big thank you, especially to Mr. President Joko Widodo, Mr. Menkopolhukam Mafhud MD, National Police Leaders, namely Mr. Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit, Mr. Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner General Gatot Eddy Pramono, Mr. Kabareskrim Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, Mr. Commander of the Mobile Brigade Corps Commissioner General Anang Revandoko who I also consider as my own parents, colleagues and seniors that I cannot mention one by one, who have provided support and still give me confidence to be able to reveal the truth, thanks also to the LPSK for accompany and provide protection to me until now, and do not forget all Indonesian people who have always supported and prayed for me.
