jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD emphasized that the government would investigate and act against a number of officers involved in the Djoko Tjandra case.

“Not only administrative sanctions but also criminal sanctions,” Mahfud said after a limited meeting with five related institutions namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), the Attorney General’s Office, National Police Headquarters and the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), at the Kemenko office Polhukam, Jakarta, Monday.

In the case of hunting Djoko Tjandra, Mahfud in his press release asked the relevant institutions to immediately take a more strategic step.

“Officials and employees who are clearly and later known to provide assistance, took part in carrying out the collaborative steps in the Djoko Tjandra case, many criminal acts can be imposed. For example, articles 221, 263, and so on,” said the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Mahfud MD.

In addition, Mahfud MD also appreciated the steps taken by the National Police in taking action against officers who were proven to be involved.

He hopes that decisive action will also be taken at other institutions, if it is proven to have committed violations in the Djoko Tjandra case.

“If there is someone involved there, disciplinary action, disciplinary sanctions imposed, administrative immediately imposed and then proceeded to the criminal, do not stop discipline, if only discipline is sometimes removed from office, suddenly two more years appear to be officials, even though committing a crime. Therefore the Police must continue, “said Mahfud.

In the limited meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by the Director General of Law and International Treaties (HPI), the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) represented by the Director General of Immigration, the Attorney General’s Office by JAM Pidsus, the National Police Headquarters by the Police Kabareskrim and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) represented by the Deputy Deputy I BIN.
