Madrid bent by PSG, Courtois ‘spray’ Toni Kroos

Paris Saint Germain successful goal Real Madrid in injury time through a counter-attack scheme. Los Blancos goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois annoyed Toni Kroos lost possession of the ball due to a wrong pass.

Kylian Mbappe became the star of PSG’s victory at the Parc des Princes (16/2/2022) early morning WIB. He brilliantly cut-inside from the left side, past two Madrid players then fired a shot that went under Courtois.

Before Mbappe’s individual action occurred, the ball was actually in Madrid’s possession. They were attacking from the left, and Toni Kroos was about to pass to Eden Hazard. But the bait was misdirected and taken by Marquinhos.

From there, can be passed to Presnel Kimpembe, then Mbappe, to Neymar, and returned again to Mbappe to then score.

This dramatic victory is an advantage for PSG in looking at the second match later. Les Parisiens only needed a draw to advance to the quarter-finals, while Madrid had to win by a two-goal margin.

Courtois after the game expressed his frustration. He had struggled to block the hosts’ chances, including Lionel Messi’s penalty, but finally conceded near the end of the match.

“We defended well, then we lost possession because of a stupid pass. It was difficult to accept,” Courtois told RMC Sport, quoted by Metro UK.

“We didn’t perform well, but a 0-0 draw will be a better capital to look at the second game at the (Santiago) Bernabeu. Now we have to win, at any cost. We know we have to win and hopefully we can do it with the support of the fans.”

“I missed a number of Mbappe chances, but his last action was really quality, classy. He’s one of the best in the world,” Courtois explained.
