NEW YORK (Dagbladet): It appears in an interview that the German head of investigation Hans-Christian Wolters has given to the Portuguese TV journalist Sandra Felgueiras on the TV channel CMTV, according to the British newspapers The Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror.
– We have found new facts and new evidence. It is not forensic evidence, but evidence. And because of the evidence, we are sure he killed Madeleine McCann, Wolters said in the interview.
–
British Madeleine McCann was just three years old when she disappeared while on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007.
When she disappeared, she was wearing pink Ole Brumm pajamas. The case received enormous attention around the world, and Wolters was interviewed 15 years after she disappeared.
– Is it true that you have found something from Madeleine McCann in Christian Brückner’s caravan? asks the journalist.
– I will not comment on details in the investigation, Wolters answers.
– But you do not want to deny it?
– I do not want to deny it because the suspect has not been informed yet, says the head of the investigation.
German law means that details from a police investigation cannot be made public until a suspect and his lawyers have received all the details of the case against them.
Wolters will not say anything if they have information indicating that Brückner had an accomplice during the abduction.
Although he has been the police’s main suspect for more than four years, he has never been formally questioned in the case until two weeks ago.
The man, who is suspected of having killed Madeleine McCann, insists that he was several kilometers from the hotel in Portuguese Praia da Luz when the three-year-old girl disappeared.
according to Sky News German Christian Brückner claims that he had sex in his motorhome with a young woman on the evening of May 3, 2007.
During questioning, the man is said to have explained that he drove the woman to the airport in Faro the same evening, where they were stopped and photographed at a police roadblock.
At the airport, which is about 90 kilometers from Praia da Luz, he claims that the young woman was arrested by the security staff for carrying pepper spray.
He is now serving a sentence in another case. In 2019, he was found guilty of raping a 72-year-old American woman in her home in Praia de Luz in 2005 – two years before the three-year-old disappeared.
