Macron and Zelensky signed a bilateral security and defense cooperation agreement

French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky signed a bilateral security and defense cooperation agreement in Paris today under which France will provide Ukraine with additional military aid totaling 3 billion euros.

In his statements to journalists, the French president emphasized that France will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary and said that Ukraine will become a member of the European Union and that it hopes to become a member of NATO.

The French president has also been highly critical of Russia, both over so-called cyber attacks and rumors that Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons in space. “Regarding the last issue, Russia must quickly provide an explanation,” he said.

The French president, also referring to the death of the Russian anti-regime Alexei Navalny, spoke of the Kremlin’s weakness and fear of anyone who opposes it. He also said that Russia should shed a lot of light on the circumstances under which this drama happened.

For his part, the president of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to France and mentioned that his country daily faces political crimes on the part of Russia. Referring to Navalny’s death, Zelensky declared that Putin is a murderous and bloodthirsty dictator.
