During the collective memory round, a part of the K3 video clip ‘MaMaSé!’ shown, and Maarten wouldn’t be Maarten if he had nothing to say to that. “Shall I refrain from commenting?” begins the America expert.
“Maarten, this was for the young people among us,” says presenter Philip Freriks, but that is of no avail. Maarten’s reaction: “I also think it’s terrible for children’s souls. Then the fungus starts on the brain, which later leads to all kinds of terrible processes.” Book critic Lidewijde Paris tries to nuance his words: “There is still something to be said against this. Because moving and remembering text and imitating those steps, I think that is still quite good coordination development for a young child’s mind.”
Yet Maarten is not convinced; if his 4-year-old grandchild would listen to K3, strict measures will immediately follow, he says.
