Ma Tianyou @mayaoo, who just completed his first solo show and released his first vinyl album at the end of last year, suddenly deleted all his ig posts, leaving only the title of his new song “Injury”. It turned out that he had plastic surgery because of lack of self-confidence. He had already “dreamed of becoming a singer” when he was a student, but at that time he felt that his appearance was not outstanding enough, so he thought that only plastic surgery could help him realize his dream.
Later, Mayao discovered that plastic surgery only brought him superficial self-confidence, and as a result, he was often misunderstood and occasionally verbally attacked. In 2019, he decided to remove his previously implanted nose and chin prostheses and face his true self.
After two major surgeries, Mayao gradually realized that building self-confidence should not rely solely on appearance. He does not regret his decision to have plastic surgery, and believes that the choices he made at each stage made him grow. Now, he no longer uses appearance to define his value, and he loves himself even more.
In the new song “Injured”, Mayao records the process of finding herself, and learns to be grateful for her own strength, and to face her own fragility with a naked and sincere attitude. From these experiences, he discovered that true beauty is not limited to appearance, but comes from inner growth and acceptance of one’s own uniqueness.
