Lyon: the rikiki prize of Rayan Cherki | Goal.com English

Olympique Lyonnais are ready to let their prodigy Rayan Cherki leave for just a few million euros, according to some sources.

Courted by PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid this summer, Rayan Cherki had a terrible season with Lyon. While the club’s results are terrible (red lantern of Ligue 1), the 20-year-old found himself on the fringes of the thinking of former coach Fabio Grosso, who described him as “not special”.

Patrice Sage, the interim coach, reinstated Cherki in the starting XI, but his performance against Marseille (3-0 defeat in midweek) made the striker the subject of much criticism.

L’Equipe reports today that Lyon are ready to give up one of the biggest French hopes of recent years by letting him leave for just 10 million euros, with 18 months left on his contract.

Cherki was particularly criticized by Christophe Dugarry, winner of the 1998 World Cup, on RMC.

“When it’s been months and months that you haven’t been able to change the way you play and you do the same stupid things game after game and you make the same mistakes and you have the same behavior, the same ridiculous way to play football…”, declared Christophe Dugarry, 1998 world champion on RMC.

“I wonder if the kid has all his mental faculties to analyze and think,” Dugarry said of the star of the France under-21 team.
