All that was left was the empty wine bottle.

The wine bottle in the Engel Wang Fu restaurant in Lustenau (Austria) held 1590 liters: a huge deal! The restaurant writes on the website of a “world record” that it is the largest wine bottle in the world. Since 2017, it has stood in all its glory inside the restaurant popular with Swiss cross-border commuters.

But now the fire department had to intervene. Reason: the bottle is leaking! The wine began to drain on the floor – the bottle was about to break.
–
The fire brigade Lustenau writes about the operation: “We immediately started to build a barrier with sandbags and a wooden plate to prevent the wine (if the bottle should burst) from spreading over the entire restaurant area.”

Big cone opener
Then a firefighter had to pull out the big cone puller: a hole was drilled in the cork by means of a drill in order to suck up the wine and pump it into barrels. The six firefighters then cleaned up the wine on the floor.

After two hours the operation was over. Only the bottle remained – unfortunately empty! It is unclear whether the pumped wine will now be served as open wine. (neo)
