Lügde and Bergisch Gladbach: Authorities check connection of abuse cases

The investigators in the Bergisch Gladbach abuse complex are on a cross-link to Abuse case Lügde encountered: As security circles of the German Press Agency confirmed, the authorities have been checking connections between relatives of the suspected perpetrator of Bergisch Gladbach and the campsite in Lügde for a long time. From the investigators’ perspective, it could also be a coincidence.

As before “Cologne City Gazette”. WDR and RTL reported that one of the relatives had a parking space at the Lügde campsite in the 1980s and 1990s. The relative had himself been convicted of abuse. However, he denies that he personally got to know the perpetrators of Lügde, according to the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”. As the dpa found out, the investigative commission “Berg” has known the connection for quite some time – but there is still no conclusive result. Some speak for coincidence. However, it is not yet completely excluded that the cases are connected.

The Lügde case involves years of child abuse at a campsite in the city in the Lippe district. In another case, investigators from Bergisch Gladbach came across numerous suspects who abused children and are said to have exchanged pictures of them nationwide.

Accused found in Austria

As the Cologne public prosecutor announced, the police have now also identified a suspect living in Austria in the Bergisch Gladbach abuse case. According to the Cologne police, there are currently 21 suspects in North Rhine-Westphalia alone, eight of whom are in custody.

Alleged crime scenes are Bergisch Gladbach, Viersen, Krefeld, Dortmund, Aachen, Alsdorf, Kamp-Lintfort and Duisburg. The Cologne police have also forwarded 21 reports of criminal offenses to ten other federal states. These are Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and the Saarland.
